WEEK 4 – What is your favorite thing about Thanksgiving? And, what is one thing you are thankful for this year?
Gary Mac Herring, Owner – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is being with my family and friends. Thanksgiving is like Christmas; however, a little slower pace and without any pressure of gifts etc. Coming in a close second is always the food! Haha! While I have many blessings to be thankful for, I am most thankful for is my family.

Carli Herring, Accounting Manager & Customer Service Representative – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is spending much needed time with family! There is nothing like family. And, this year I was blessed with another handsome nephew, Davis, that was born in August.
Dustin K., Director of Operations – If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the obvious. I enjoy spending the time with my family. Of course the delicious food comes in as a close second - but nothing beats time spent with my family. I'm thankful for my family, good health and a job that I enjoy (how many people can say the latter?).
Brittany Taylor, Marketing Manager – Every year my husband and I rotate our holidays, because my family is in MD and his family is in NC, so I’ll share my favorite about both – Thanksgiving in Maryland and Thanksgiving in North Carolina.
NC – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving in NC is the fact that it’s at my in-laws’ home. They don’t live very far from us so travel is a cinch. We enjoy a lovely meal with my mother-in-law’s side of the family around lunch time, then afterward take the Kubota golf cart around the pond to my fathers-in-law’s family to visit and fill our bellies even more around supper time.
MD – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving in MD is visiting my parents and sister. It’s a hike don’t get me wrong but I don’t mind it at all. I love visiting home, where I was born and raised and seeing my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I also love to wake on Thanksgiving morning to my Mom’s sweet potato biscuits with cheese, YUM! We visit both my mom’s side of the family for lunch and visit my dad’s side of the family for dinner, then I typically take off for Black Friday shopping with my sisters, my Mom, and our good friend Karen.
I think it’s obvious and appropriate to say that I am thankful for ALL of my family!
Matthew Thornton, Customer Service Representative – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is of course the food! I am most thankful for my family and my dog Porthos.
Joana Gonzalez, Customer Service Representative – My absolute favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the AWESOME food! My family puts a Mexican spin on it – we have tamales, pozole, and play loteria, but still have the traditional dishes too – turkey, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for all the wonderful people in my life. This past year has been challenging but the people that surround me have made it fun. Friends & family are most important to me because no matter what goes on in my life, they will always be there to support and encourage me.
Trey Murawski, Marketing Coordinator – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving has to be FOOTBALL! As a Redskins fan I always look forward to watching my team play, while I’m surrounded by my family, and stuffing my face with AMAZING home cooked food. This year I’m thankful for the many new opportunities and experiences that have come from my new position in Marketing here at Hawaiian Shaved Ice!
Josh Pruyn, Production Assistant – The FOOD! The family & fellowship is great, but I love to eat! Thanksgiving is the one day of the year that I have no guilt – it doesn’t matter how much I eat. My favorite is stuffing, I love it, soooo good! I am thankful for my HOME and FAMILY, and the fact that we are able to be together and celebrate this holiday season.

Rosaura Nunez Morales, Production Assistant – My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is cooking and having all of my family together. I’m thankful I’m alive and healthy, and that all of my family (husband, children, and grandchildren) are also happy and healthy.
