What is it?
Passion fruit is a tropical fruit derived from the passionfruit vine, a woody perennial commonly found in Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. The fruit is reddish-purple and egg shaped with a thick, hard shell. Under the shell is a cotton white peel and the inside is a tart, yellowish, jelly-like pulp with black seeds. The fruit is cut in half and the pulp is scooped out and eaten as is or it can be cooked to make sauces, fillings, jams or juices. Even the seeds are edible.
