The leaves are changing, and we've had some cooler nights. It's starting to feel like fall. We know it can be tempting to make some room in your kitchen cabinets by storing all the shaved ice supplies away until summer returns. But wait! Did you know that you can use your flavored syrups for more than just pouring over shaved ice?

At Hawaiian Shaved Ice, we love using different syrups in other recipes. We've put together a couple of our favorite warm drink recipes that are perfect for sipping as the season's change.

CREME BRU-LATTE (1 serving)
Ingredients:
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla Snow Cone Syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Caramel Sauce
  • 1 cup Half & Half
  • Two shots espresso (or black, dark roast coffee)
  • Garnish: whipped cream

Steam together the vanilla syrup, caramel sauce and half & half. If you do not have an espresso machine, heat your ingredients to 140-155 degrees Fahrenheit. This can be done in the microwave, but be sure not to scorch your liquid - it won't taste good and won't froth up. Pour it into a mason jar. If the jar is too hot to hold, wrap a towel around it. Screw the lid on tightly and shake until the milk is nice and frothy.

Pour the mixture over the espresso and add whipped cream, if desired.

UNICORN HOT CHOCOLATE (4 servings)
Ingredients:

In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the white chocolate chips, half & half, milk, and vanilla snow cone syrup until the chocolate chips are melted, and the mixture is hot. Add the raspberry syrup for a slight raspberry flavor, and pale pink color. Pour into four mugs and top with whipped cream, marshmallows and sprinkles - all of a unicorn's favorite things!

Let's face it - some of those early morning soccer games with the kiddos are getting chilly. A lot of parents would enjoy the Creme Bru-latte as an early morning pick-me-up to get out the door, and then the kids can warm up with the Unicorn Hot Chocolate after the game!

Whatever your reason, we hope you give these recipes a try. Share your thoughts with us - we'd love to hear your feedback. And while you're at it, share any other warm drink recipes using Hawaiian Shaved Ice syrups. Maybe we'll feature them on the blog in the future!
